David Hockney – Secret knowledge (Unit 2 Week 6-7)

Introduction

Within the session we looked at a video that shows the history of drawing throughout time going from the very early stages of drawing to the modern style of drawing, we discussed the difference of what happened and what changes throughout the years of art and how it has changed so much throughout the many years.

 

As well as this we will discuss the different methods that are used to create such imagery and how we could do so ourselves if we were going to create similar pieces of work. Also we are going to critically analyse the different styles of drawing and how different the drawing styles have changed throughout the years.

Looking at how they used to and possibly still do draw like, I will then draw my own 4 images of both one and two perspectives.

Visual analysis of an image (Week 5 Unit 2)

Introduction

In this session we were broke down in to groups, I was in a group with: Jordan, xavier and I we discussed between the three of us the different concept arts of trees that are within a variation of different games we decided to choose games such as The witcher 3, Last of us, Skyrim and we are going to critically compare the different types of foliage within these games and we are going to gather secondary research from 10 other people.

To gather the information that we need correctly we are going to create a questionnaire that well be devised of 6 different questions, three of these will be qualitative and the other three will be quantitative.

On the field trip the research that was gathered was secondary researched, this really helped me discover the different textures and shapes of the trees and it also helped me create more accurate designs for my 3D models, the importance of me doing this was so that when I create future designs of foliage.

West Gate gardens trip (Week 4 Unit 2)

Introduction

Today we are going on a trip to West gate gardens where we will be spending the majority of the day taking pictures of the wildlife in many different perspectives, taking audio tracks of the natural ambience around us at various amount of times and locations and drawing the wildlife around us.

Concept drawings of boxes (Week 2 Unit 2)

Introduction

In this session we were given a piece of paper and a drawing utensil (A pencil at first) we was given a set time of 10 minutes to draw the items that were presented in front of us with a pencil and we was asked to draw them in as much detail as we could as possible. After the time we then had to change to another piece of paper – this time it was a black piece of paper.

Uses of foliage in games (Week 4 Unit 2)

In this session we have to give examples and comparisons on the different uses of foliage that are used within games and how they are compared with other games and on how they are related to real life foliage.

I’m going to identify how they use: textures, scale, form, colours, tone, lines, etc. I am going to do this so I can see how accurate they in game foliage is to real life foliage.the purpose of this task was to see the different levels of details of foliages in different games and how accurate they are to a real life tree.

Psychology of Sound and Music (Week 3 Unit 1)

That session that took place for the past tow days was to gather statistics from three very different games, these games are: FiveNightsAtFredies (FNAF), Harizon chase and Guitar hero. Through out the game play we had to identify how sound is either important or a distraction to the player and on the ability it give the player while they are playing the game. this can vary from from being rather lost without sound and a very big reduction on the score that they got or a complete increase on their points without music due to they thought that the music distracted them from what they was going on.

How songs change the way you draw (Week 3 Unit 2)

In this lesson we was given a piece of paper which we then had to listen to different types of music that varied in style, they all had a different feel to them and we then had to draw to whatever came to mind when we listened to the music and then we compared then with each other.

The meaning of this task is to see the different effects different types of music has on an individual and the rest of the class, we are doing this so we can see the different reaction various types of music has on people when they are drawing and how this in turn changed the way they draw.
